We are starting a new series, a wine tour of Paso Robles. The first stop of our tour starts with HammerSky Vineyard. Considered one of the finest wineries in Paso Robles, HammerSky‘s reputation is one of excellence.
HammerSky is near Paso Robles and in the middle of Vineyard Drive. The vines were planted in 1996 and have been producing ever since. Douglas J. Hauck DDS bought the land with its turn of the century farmhouse in 2007. He envisioned a great romantic getaway and refurbished the farmhouse into a wonderful inn.
With 25 acres of vines, and weather similar to France’s Bordeaux region, HammerSky Vineyard creates Bordeaux centric handcrafted wines using estate-grown fruit, delivering the best their vines offer.

This wine is silky in the glass and shows a heady aroma of cooked blueberry, vanilla, and licorice. It also has a more complex turned-loam touch. With a soft mouthfeel at first, then the tannins deliver the flavors of blueberry, black pepper, and cocoa dust.

This perfect blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 25% Petit Verdot, this wine is about richness. It starts with an aroma of vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate, licorice, and black currant crème brûlée. While soft and plush on the palate, the butterscotch, candied blueberry, and black plum syrup flavors are laid like slices of spice cake lifted by mulled spices.
